My path to teaching Python programming through music production began long before I stepped into a classroom. As a highly decorated collegiate athlete, I was already breaking records on the field while spinning records in the DJ booth.
My passion for music production and DJing started in high school, running parallel with my athletic achievements and eventually leading to the NFL. As technology transformed the STEAM education landscape, I found myself diving deeper into the technical side of music coding. What started as learning computer skills to stay current as a DJ evolved into a fascination with creative coding. The transition was natural – the same pattern recognition that made me successful in sports and music became the foundation for understanding programming.
Today, I combine these three powerful elements – persistence in the face of challenges, musical creativity, and coding expertise – to create a unique educational technology experience. I teach students that Python coding, like sports and music, is about rhythm, patterns, and practice. This approach doesn't just teach programming; it builds confidence, creativity, and technical skills that open doors to technology careers that last a lifetime. Whether through in-person classes or remote sessions in Lake Peekskill, NY and beyond, our music-based coding curriculum transforms how underserved youth and all young people learn tech skills.
